The accident that injured Officer Valerie Stover-Kelly occurred on the Scajaquada Expressway. She was exiting her car in response to another accident when a car struck her cruiser, pushed it, and knocked her down. The officer was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and then released.
Another accident in the area involved a school bus that had students from Heim Elementary School on board. A car struck the bus at Audubon Parkway and North Forest Road leaving both drivers and a child injured. All of the injuries were minor. Both drivers were ticketed by police; one for not wearing a seat belt and the other for driving too fast and making an unsafe lane change.
